TRACING TABLES
“ BARNES ” TRANSILLUMINATED
A4760
Originally developed for the Hydrographic department of the Admiralty for the detailed
examination of charts printed on thick paper, the “ Barnes ” table is now produced for
use in the drawing office for making tracings or for any work which requires a plan or
drawing to be evenly illuminated from the reverse side.
The illumination is provided by a fluorescent discharge tube fixed at the focal axis
of a parabolic reflector. The light is therefore reflected in parallel rays so that the trans
parent glass top of the table is evenly illuminated.
The table is constructed of Prime Seasoned Beech and finished cellulose lacquer,
self colour. A frosted glass screen 54 in. x 32 in. is fitted to the top and this is illuminated
by means of a 40 Watt fluorescent strip lamp and parabolic reflector, which are located
beneath the screen. The table is fitted with six feet of flex, and is designed to operate
on mains voltage of 200 250 volts, 50 cycles.
