perficere, atque omnes ceteras partes effectus ner-
vorum pati, hac re nihil est demonstratum, nisi
animam organismo cerebri validam et efficacem
esse, nec autem eo affirmatum est, in cerebro so-
lum illius sedem esse.
Negari non potest, animam in organo tantum
certae structnrae agere et affectus accipere posse,
igeheiub et tarnen fortasse magis in organismo dispersam
esse. Nonnullas igitur hoc loco res proferre volu-
mus, qnae animam, etiamsi in cerebro solo efli-
cacem, tarnen non plane eo circumscriptam esse
declarent. Hae vero res sufficiant:
1) animalia humiliora, ut planaria, polypi,
vermes, dividi possunt et polypi quidem et ver-
mes se ipsos generant partitione corporis. Haec
sane animalia animata sunt eo significatu, quo
