Con un Dispositivo Mecanico se Evitan Ahora con Eficacia los Acci-
dentes Ferroviarios. . . Los ensayos practicados en Alemania, Italia
y otros paises han dado excelentes resultados, tanto en trenes de
marcha lenta de vagones de carga como en los ferrocarriles animados

. . . A number of meehanical, electromechanical, electromagnetic or
optical Systems to influence locomotives have become known but a
new invention made by an Austrian engineer, Mr. George Kofler, is
worthy of special attention and is likelv to obtain preference amongst
the meehanical Systems to influence running trains on account of its
usefulness, easy installation and manvsided efficiency. Solid construct-
ion. The Kofler System of train blooking is, in spite of its technical
subtility, of a very solid construction. The different parts are easily
interchangeable and are of light weight to avoid a heavv meehanical
strain on the apparatus. There is one more point to which we would
like to draw the attention. Train blocking Systems for railway lines
must work with a safety of ioo per cent. . . .

Railway safety device. We referred the other day to a new raii safety
device for automatically stopping railway trains which Mr. George
Kofler, an Austrian engineer, has invented. Mr. Kofler is now in
Bombay and intends to give a demonstration of his device on In
dian railways... . Very low initial and maintenance costs are striking
features of the device.
